City AT overturn
A city type All Terrain crane has overturned onto a home in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK this morning.
The crane - which looks like a 25 tonne Kato CR-250 – is owned and operated by Terranova Group, and was working on extension to a bungalow in a residential area of the town when it lost stability. The operator was unhurt and remained in the crane cab until the emergency services arrived, he then used a short ladder to climb down from the cab. As far as we know there were no injuries.

The crane overturned onto the building
What happened is still unclear, from the position of the outrigger mats it looks as though the crane’s outriggers were set up asymmetrically, although things might well have shifted when the crane went over. Given the nature of this job, one assumes that this was a ‘Contract Lift’ which means the crane rental company managed the whole job.

A closer look
The crane was later recovered by two larger Terranova cranes, a video of the recovery can be seen below.

terranova will shaft the hirer either way as there were probably no ground bearing capacity checks in place. Red sums it up.
Holy Grale
Will the Directors of Terranova be offering any words of wisdom to this, probably not.

Substandard rates = substandard wages = substandard operators.

People like this really annoy me. Twice leaving there creditors hanging setting up again over night and carrying on under cutting the good companies out there. £350 for half day is madness.
Mac
you are correct on that £350 for a four hour hire So wrong so why does it keep happening !!!!!

Crane expert I think they have gone pop twice. I wonder if we will ever find out what caused it to go over or will it be another hush hush job.
Mac
It wasn't a contract lift .

I thought Terranova went bankrupt??
Also I very much doubt this was a well thought out contract lift, more of a (cheap and easy) lift. Lucky nobody was hurt. Let?s this be a lesson terrogoneover
