Transport fleet expansion for Falcon
Falcon Freight, the new haulage division of Falcon Tower Crane Services, has taken delivery of eight Volvo trucks and 27 flatbed trailers.
Based at the company’s depot in Dunstable, near Luton, the order increases its transport fleet to 24 trucks and 39 trailers. Three of the new models have also been fitted with a 68.5 tonne/metre Fassi 710RA.27.2, a 74.7 tonne/metre Palfinger PK78002 SH D and a 59 tonne/metre Hiab X-Hipro 658 EP-6 loader cranes - taking its loader crane fleet to 12 units.
Following the acquisition of TJ Robins last November (see:
Falcon acquires transport company, the company has said it has seen a surge of work, not only from its crane division, but also from cabin, containers and industrial movements - most of which continued throughout the lockdown period.

Falcon has added three large loader cranes to its new haulage division
Falcon commercial director Andy Brown said: “It has always been our intention to carry out more services in-house and become less reliant on external haulage, whilst venturing into new markets. It gives us the flexibility to respond quicker to an ever moving environment, whilst ensuring we have everything is place from a compliance perspective. We are FORS Gold and Clocs registered and have depots in Norfolk, Luton and Manchester."
In addition to expanding its transport fleet, the company has began supplying outrigger/rigging mats and has more than 200 tonnes of steel test weights.
Brown added: “Our RLR and steel mats are manufactured in house, initially sourced for our own tower cranes. However, we are seeing an increased demand of all mats and test weights from other companies, which is likely due to our availability and nationwide service.”
