Liebherr double for Bob Francis
North Wales-based Bob Francis Crane Hire has purchased its first Liebherr cranes - a 200 tonne LTM 1200-5.1 the first in the UK with Variobase - closely followed by a 30 tonne LTM 1030-2.1.
The five axle LTM 1200-5.1 has a seven section 72 metre main boom together with a 36 metre bi-fold swing-away extension with integrated 5.4 metre erection jib, all of which can be offset by up to 45 degrees. The company has also specified a seven metre lattice insert which attaches to the boom nose as a heavy duty extension, or used as a high pivot point for the regular swingaway providing a maximum tip height of 106 metres
Maximum counterweight is 76 tonnes with 16 tonnes carried on-board. Other features include active, speed-dependant rear axle steering, pneumatic disc brakes and LICCON2 with mobile control and display unit. The LTM 1200-5.1 is also fitted with VarioBase allowing the safe operation of the crane whatever the position the outriggers.

The new LTM 1030-2.1 has recently been upgraded with a new front bumper, new style crane cab and disc brakes as standard.
“Liebherr is delighted to be working with Bob Francis Crane Hire and looks forward to developing what it hopes will be a long and productive relationship,” said Steve Elliott, Liebherr’s mobile crane area sales manager.
Managing director Mark Francis added: “The addition of the LTM1030 and LTM1200 units will provide our customers with the very latest in modern lifting technology and ensures that we remain ahead of our local competitors in every way. The 200 tonne capacity of the LTM1200 and its versatility means that we can configure the machine in so many different ways for a wide variety of applications that suit our customer base in both our immediate locality and throughout the country".

"The support and communication we have had from Liebherr throughout the build period of the machines and the handover of the equipment has been exceptional and we appreciate good service as it is upon this mantra that we have built our business for many years.“

Great to see the commitment and investment being made by Mark and all at Bob Francis Crane Hire. A great business that is very local to myself and one that I have seen grow and prosper even through the toughest of years that everyone suffered in the recent past. Well done to all at BFCH and keep that fleet growing.
