Whoops in triplicate
Earlier this week we started receiving information on a triple articulated boom lift overturn in the UK, but so far have struggled to get details of the full story to a level that allows us to cover the story properly.
In the last 24 hours numerous readers have sent further copies of the photograph, which shows the three boom lifts overturned on to their sides, after strong winds apparently caught the lighting rigs they were supporting. We understand that event occurred at a film shoot at Wrotham Park, near Barnett, to the north of London. At least two of the booms are owned by rental company JMS.
Most of the editorial team is either in the USA now or en route, ready for next week’s big show thus making the tracking down of details harder than usual.

Strong winds are said to have caught these platforms, pulling one over which then pulled the other two over
We have managed to confirm that the machine closest to the photographer went over first and then helped pull the other two over. We have also been assured that no one was in the platforms at the time as they were being used to support lighting equipment rather than as work platforms. As a result there were no injuries in the incident.
The recovery has now started and we do have photos of that which we will publish shortly.
There for the grace of God and a miracle no one was hurt. You can train them and you can tell them, but certain industry types won't listen to any advice, and then try to wash their hands of any responsibility. Not really sure what the Rental companies can do about this.
