Maryland Death Wish

Spotted in Hagerstown Maryland a man working on a three storey house at least 10 metres up. From a distance it looks like one long ladder with a fibreglass or red base.

Is that a 10 metre ladder with a red base?

However when you get closer up to it you can see that it is in fact two ladders.
The first a two section fibreglass one is set up on the pavement (sidewalk) with cordoning –off tape preventing pedestrians from walking under the ladder (well it is unlucky!) and resting on the lightweight gutter.

No its two seperate ladders - one is on the porch roof!

Then the best part.. A massive two section ladder resting on the porch roof perilously close to the gutter runs from around four metres all the way up to the very top gutter.

Lets take a closer look

The handyman was not around when the photo was taken unless he was on the roof? Whoever he is he has to be one brave ‘mother’ or extremely foolhardy? Climbing form the lower ladder to the upper one must have been a challenge, as it must have been to simply get the top ladder in place!

So even in the land that gave us the self-propelled aerial lift there are still those left to convert.
