Italian harness use

A reader from Italy sent us a series of pictures from a job in the north where a mixed up approach to harness use seems to be the rule.

The site operations manager clearly understand the need to wear a harness in a boom lift, and yet even though he is supervising the work, he has allowed one man to work without one in spite of the fact that the work seems to involve some stretching over the side of the platform!

No harness for this man, his boss has it on and he's on the ground!

In his own words:
“Have a look on these pictures from northern Italy. It is simply stupid. There are two workers on two different truck mounted platforms, besides the fact that they are working on quite old and worn equipment, but:- One is working with a harness the other not. What you cannot even see is that the operations chief is standing on the ground wearing a harness.”
