Mega contract for Mammoet

Mammoet has won the heavy lift and heavy haul contract for the Cameron LNG project in Hackberry, Louisiana.

As part of the 42 month contract, Mammoet will be responsible for the supply of more than 70 cranes, ranging from 25 to 800 tonnes, along with a number of Self Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMT).

The $10 billion, three-train natural gas lliquefaction export facility is being developed by a joint venture between Sempra Energy' GDF Suez , Mitsui & Co. and Mitsubishi. The plant will have an export capability of 12 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas, or approximately 1.7 billion cubic feet a day. The ground breaking ceremony occurred last October, and all three trains are expected to come on line during 2018, with the first full year of operation in 2019.

Robert Roest, Mammoet sales director for Louisiana said: “We are very happy to work on one of the most important LNG export projects on the Gulf Coast. By contracting Mammoet as main supplier for the lifting and transport equipment, the project will save significant time due to central coordination that leads to optimisation of all engineered heavy lifting and transport activities”.

Mammoet has worked on a number of large LNG construction projects in the past, in the USA, Australia and the Middle East.
