New flagship for Schares

German rental company Autokrane Schares has taken delivery of a 500 tonne Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 All Terrain crane.

The eight axle LTM 1500-8.1 is now the largest crane in its fleet and features a 50 metre main boom and a 91 metre luffing jib. The company said rising demand provided the stimulus to invest and that the fact that the crane’s components could be transported with the company’s existing transport fleet also played a factor. The crane will be predominately used for bridge installations and prefabricated concrete assembly work.

The company has also expanded its depots at Bocholt and Essen to create extra space for training and to install an equipment storage facility which, among other things, will house the crane’s lattice jib and Y-Guy system.

Autokrane Schares managing director Katrin Schleiting, said: “The crane fits neatly into our existing fleet with a 350-tonner previously being our largest crane. Liebherr has long established itself in our company as a reliable, competent partner. We want to continue this good, close relationship based on fair treatment, competence and excellent service. We have always valued this and we will continue to do so in the future.”

Autokrane Scares is a fourth generation company, currently run by Christoph Schares and Katrin Schleiting. With depots in Bocholt, Goch, Essen and Willich, the company has a fleet of 45 All Terrains, crawlers and mobile self-erectors - including a Spiering SK 2400-R mounted on a crawler chassis. The company also offers transportation trailers, temporary roadways systems and aerial work platforms. It has been a member of the German association of independent rental companies System Lift since 2009.
