Forked scissor

A reader spotted a work at height solution being used at a port or marina in Gothenburg, Sweden, that you would not expect to see in Europe.

While this looks like a 'make-do' stunt from an emerging market, it is probably the second or third example we have received from Europe over the past 12 months.

We carried our first example of a fork truck and scissor combo, back in 2003, and back then nobody thought that such idiocy was possible outside of a banana republic, and yet all of the most recent examples have come from Europe.

In this case the team has taken a container handling fork truck and lifted a fully extended slab electric scissor lift, with platform fully extended, to a height of around five metres so that the operator can reach the mast of a boat. As if this was not bad enough, it looks as though the scissor lift’s tyres are simply sitting on the forks. And if you check the platform the upper guardrails appear to be missing.

The crazy combination of fork truck and scissor lift in Sweden

In the words of our correspondent: “Here is a death wish from Göteborg , Sweden. Something you believe to only be found in the Far East - not in Sweden. Happily everything worked fine with NO injuries”.
Crazy and definitely one for our Death Wish series
