Genie streamlines scissor maintenance

Genie has published its new streamlined and standardised scissor lift maintenance regimes that extends some service and inspection intervals and condenses six service manuals into one and extends some service and inspection intervals.

The extended inspection intervals are the result of an extensive component test programme that helped identify when issues might occur under particular types of use in various operating conditions and environments. This has allowed the company to be far more specific about when each component or part needs to be checked.

Many routine service procedures for scissor lifts have moved from quarterly and semi-annually to annually. First inspection timings have also changed, with some tasks previously required at 30 or 50 hours after a machine went into service moving to 50 and 150 hours for both scissor lifts and telehandlers.

The new protocols apply to all Genie S-scissor lifts and GTH-telehandler models in North America. The new manuals can be downloaded digitally or in hard copy using service part number 1272215 for scissor lifts or 1272858 for telehandlers.

The move follows the publication of streamlined service and inspection protocols for boom lifts last October. See Streamlined Genie boom maintenance
