New Terex for Altida
UK crane rental company Altida has taken delivery of a new four axle 100 tonne Terex AC100/4L All Terrain crane.
The crane features a 59.4 metre main boom plus a 10 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which can offset by up to 40 degrees, giving a maximum tip height of 74 metres. Mounted on a 2.55 metre wide chassis, it can travel with up to 19.3 tonnes of counterweight on board in the UK. The IC-1 Plus smart control system which allows each of the crane’s outriggers to be in any position, which are then monitored and fed into the control system, where a load chart is configured to match.

The new crane, the first new Terex that the company, which is based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, has purchased joins an almost all Terex/Demag fleet. Acquired when the company was formed last year they include an AC 40/2L, AC 50-1, two AC 30s, three AC 40 City cranes and an AC 140 Compact.
Altida managing director Lee Fletcher said: “We had been hiring in cranes to support the activities of our other businesses - overhead cranes and fabrications - for some time. It suddenly seemed only sensible to develop our own fleet and thereby create a separate trading company.”
“We now have a fleet of 15 cranes and an impressive customer base of our own. There was clearly a gap in the market for high quality crane hire and transport at a competitive price, and we are now filling it. The decision to purchase the AC 100/4L was a very easy one, once we had looked at the alternatives on offer. Especially as our existing Terex cranes had proved so successful. We wanted a narrow, compact crane with a long boom and good duties to fit in with our existing fleet.”

Terex Cranes regional manager Andrew Snow added: “Altida are a successful and fast growing business. We are delighted to be contributing to their growth and development in such a positive way.”
Altida is owned by the same family, and operates from the same address as the well established overhead crane specialist Chesterfield Crane Company and is involved with all of the construction work associated with installing new overhead crane systems.
