Shocked in the forest
A man working from an aerial work platform in the Myles Standish State Forest near Plymouth, Massachusetts, yesterday, suffered severe burns after contacting high tension overhead power lines.
The man, 51, working as a subcontractor to Comcast, was stringing fibre optic cable from one pole to another when the cable came into contact with one of the three 13,200 volt power lines on the poles. As a result he sustained severe burns to his hands and chest, but was still conscious. He was airlifted to Boston by helicopter for medical treatment.
OSHA is investigating.
