Tower crane collapse in Dubai
A tower crane came down in Dubai earlier today as exceptionally strong winds hit the city one person is said to have been injured, although not seriously.
The crane was installed in the Nassima Royal Hotel and came down onto the Sheikh Zayed Road hitting four cars parked out front of which two caught fire. Debris came down across the road with what looked like a jib section landing on the elevated metro track, causing sparks as the trains went by it. The metro was eventually shut down until the track was cleared.

The scene earlier today
We have very little information at the moment and hard to tell what crane this was – or even to be sure that it was a crane, although we have been told that it is. But what is clear is that this could have been far far worse. It is exceptionally fortunate that no one has lost their life. Mobile cranes are on site and have already shifted much of the debris.
