The boom of the overturned crane landed on the new structure
The crane, a Zoomlion QY50V owned by Manning Valley Crane was placing steelwork on a new car park at Manning Hospital, its five section main boom was fully extended when it lost stability and tipped, with the boom landing on the structure. The operator, 46, jumped clear or fell from the cab and suffered a badly broken leg and was rushed to hospital.

A view from the front
The crane was well set up with outriggers fully extended on large mats and the ground was not an issue in this incident. We can only assume that the load was taken out too far, overloading the crane?
