Mobile tower crane over
A four axle mobile self-erecting tower crane overturned in Bonn, Germany, on Saturday, with the jib landing on the main station.

The jib came down on the station opposite
The crane, owned by Baumann, was working on the demolition of an old building opposite the station, it was supporting a large, heavy rubber screen or curtain, weighing 3.2 tonnes in order to prevent debris from the demolition work - being carried out by a large excavator with extended boom and demolition jaws - from flying out into the street. However the demolition machine dropped a large chunk of concrete wall - said to weigh up to 10 tonnes- onto the curtain, causing the crane to become overloaded.
It then tipped forward, with the jib damaging the overhead power lines for the trams before coming to rest on the station roof opposite. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident, even though the streets were crowded.

The recovery team arrived quickly on site with additional cranes, but had to wait for the overhead lines to be fully deactivated before they could begin the careful job of recovering the crane.

The outriggers held firm and the crane remained stable during the recovery process
