New facility for Pace

Australian crane distributor Pace Cranes is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the opening of a new facility in Peakhurst, New South Wales.

The company is the Australasian distributor for Maeda spider cranes, Sennebogen crawler and port cranes, Shuttlelift rubber tyred gantry cranes and Valla pick & carry cranes. The company, originally P.A Construction Equipment - was established in nearby Mortdale in 1987 by Paul Heeks. He had previously been marketing manager for Favco tower cranes, and New South Wales state manager of Australian Crane & Excavator which was part of the Tutt Bryant Group at the time. He began selling spare parts and service, along with used equipment, becoming the Robway safety systems dealer the following year, and was appointed P&H Century II distributor for New South Wales in 1990. The company moved to its Lorraine Street premises in Peakhurst in 1994 having outgrown its original location.

The company became the Valla and Maeda dealer in 1992, took on the Sennebogen line in 2010 and Shuttlelift in 2014. Over the years it has also handled, Jaso tower cranes, Grove, National Cranes and Luna. Needing to expand the company decided to demolish its existing facilities earlier this year, and replace them with new multi million dollar, state of the art workshops to prepare and service imported cranes for the Australian and New Zealand market.

Pace's facility under construction

The opening was attended by 160 guests, including local state member for Oatley and parliamentary secretary for infrastructure and transport Mark Coure, who officially opened the new facility. Also present was Maeda president Masaaki Shioiri and Marco Burgmer of Sennebogen. The day included a crane display and an official sake drum ceremony.
