Tree trimmer falls
A man trimming trees from a bucket truck in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was thrown from the platform, on Saturday.
The man, Michael Shiry, 34, was one of four men working for Emery Tree Service, trimming trees around the Gateway Centre, and was apparently working at a height of around 16 metres, when the upper boom of the bucket truck suddenly dropped, and then either hit the ground or stopped short and catapulted him out of the platform. He was declared dead at the scene.
Shiry was the son of the owner of Emery Tree Service, which owned the aerial work platform, his father was one of the team on site at the time. OSHA is investigating the incident.
