First Raimondi LR330 erected
The first production unit of the new 18 tonne Raimondi LR330 luffing jib tower crane has been erected in London.
Raimondi's UK dealer Bennetts installed the new crane on a site in Kensington, London. The crane arrived over the summer and was first erected at the company’s testing facility in Gloucestershire for pre-site checks and training before being delivered to site. It will be joined on the job by a second LR330 and two LRH174s - Raimondi’s first hydraulic luffer, over the next four to five months.
The first LR330 was erected on a 48 metre tower, with a 50 metre jib, while the second unit will be installed with a 54 metre tower. They will both be lifting 4.62 tonnes at end of jib after a 25 percent de-rate, with an out of service radius of 17 metres.
The two LRH174s will have a 35 metre jib, 35.7 metre towers and will have a 5.17 tonne jib tip capacity, with an out of service radius of 10 metres.

Managing director Edward Seager said: “We believe the LR330 is going to become a very useful crane within our fleet with such a large lifting capacity. With the trend toward pre-cast concrete and pods being built off site, heavier lifting capacities are essential to take the weight. We are extremely pleased to be putting the new Raimondi into service this year. This and several other new Raimondi luffers are all part of our planned fleet expansion and modernisation.”
All of the cranes will be fitted with BlokCam systems, with a camera on the hook of the crane sending live images back to the operator in the cab.
