Bucket truck electrocution
A man died yesterday in Cincinnati, Ohio while working alone, installing a police surveillance camera from a bucket truck platform.
The man LeRoy Garrison, 48, an electrical maintenance worker with Cincinnati Public Services - was working alone from the platform of an Altec bucket truck in the northern suburb of Mount Airy, when residents heard a large bang and suffered a power cut. No one was visible in the fully extended platform, which had overhead wires draped across it. When the emergency services arrived, they called in the local utility provider Duke Energy to make the power lines safe before the rescue could get under way. When the fire crew did reach the platform they found Garrison, but it was already too late and he was declared dead at the scene.
The platform was brought down to the ground and later driven away, having not apparently been damaged in the incident.
