Second crawler for Alps

Swiss crane rental company Clausen Kran has taken delivery of a second 60 tonne Liebherr LTR 1060 telescopic crawler crane, having taken delivery of its first back in 2013 – see: Mountain climbing crawler.

The LTR 1060 is equipped with a five section 40 metre main boom, a 2.5 metre assembly jib and a 9.5 to 16 metres bi-fold swingaway extension to provide a maximum tip height of almost 59 metres. The tracks extend from an overall width of three metres to a fully extended width of 4.8 metres, with load charts available for both configurations.

Company owner Geri Clausen said: “The LTR 1060 has proven excellent on gravel tracks with very tight bends and steep banking and gradients of up to 40 percent. We have often taken it to altitudes of over 3,000 metres. Once it arrives at the site, the LTR 1060 can be made ready for action extremely quickly. The machine has had no problems, we are very satisfied. That is why we have now bought a second one.”

Based in Brig im Wallis, family owned Clausen Kran runs a small fleet of All Terrain and crawler cranes and serve a region of the Alps which features the highest number of mountains above 4,000 metres.
