31 cranes for Ulferts & Wittrock

German crane rental company Ulferts & Wittrock has placed a new order for 31 Liebherr cranes for delivery this year.

The order ranges from the 40 tonne two axle LTM 1040-2.1 to the 250 tonne five axle LTM 1250-5.1. Around a third of them are five axle models, with many being the new LTM 1150-5.3. The order is part of the company’s ongoing programme to modernise its fleet and follows on from 80 Liebherr cranes it has taken delivery of over the last two years.

Launched in October, the LTM 1150-5.3 offers a 66 metre main boom and capacities that are around 15 percent better than its predecessor in both maximum and partial counterweight configurations, while carrying nine tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loads.

Managing partner Marcus Wittrock said: “The new Liebherr 150 tonne crane enables us to expand our five axle class perfectly, as it delivers excellent lifting capacities, a very long telescopic boom and can carry a good deal of ballast on public roads.”

Managing partner Temmo Niekamp added: “We feel that Liebherr takes good care of us. The cranes are state of the art in technical terms. Furthermore, they retain the value very well and are therefore in great demand as used cranes.”

Ulferts & Wittrock was founded in 1989 by Klaus Wittrock and Hermann Ulferts in Oldenburg - to the west of Bremen - as a logistics service provider to the heavy transport market with five mobile cranes. The company has grown steadily over the years, partly driven by the increasing demand for wind turbine installations. Its fleet now includes All Terrain cranes from 30 and 600 tonnes, crawler cranes from 130 to 650 tonnes as well as a number of self-erecting mobile tower cranes, aerial work platforms of all types and telehandlers. It now operates from 10 locations in Germany: - Oldenburg, Brake, Hamburg, Hollenstedt, Wilhelmshaven, Hollenstedt, Schwerin, Kiel, Flensburg and Lübeck.
