Fatal tree care incident
A man died on Thursday after he was bounced or tipped out of the basket of a truck mounted lift while trimming trees in Evingsen on the south east side of Dortmund in Germany.
Paramedics, an emergency doctor and members of the local fire brigade worked on the injured man, 48, for almost an hour after he fell around 20 metres or so fell from a great height. A rescue helicopter from Dortmund also attended the scene.
According to the police, the incident occurred after the lift’s basket caught up in the branches and “twisted during tree cutting work”, causing the man to fall. One has to assume that he was sadly not wearing a harness with attached lanyard at the time.
