First Grove GMK6300L-1

Indonesian rental company PT Superkrane Mitra Utama has taken delivery of the first 300 tonne six axle Grove GMK6300L-1 to arrive in the country.

The new crane has a seven section 80 metre main boom and up to 37 metres of extensions for a maximum tip height of 120 metres. Features include interchangeable counterweights, all wheel steer and Grove’s Megatrak suspension system. The '-1' model offers improved lifting capacities throughout the load chart by an average of seven percent, and when working with boom lengths of 70 to 80 metres, capacities are said to have improved by more than 16 percent. With the full 80 metre boom extended and rigged with full counterweight the new model can lift 14 tonnes at 28 metres radius, compared to 12 tonnes on its predecessor.

The new addition was quickly put to work lifting concrete bridge beams into place during a three to four hour overnight window building a new ‘flyover’ over an existing rail line in Jakarta, as part of the local government’s efforts connect urban areas.

The new crane went straight to work on bridge work

Established in 1996 and based in Jakarta, Superkrane supplies a range of cranes, aerial work platforms, telehandlers and heavy lifting equipment and services throughout the country from 28 outlets. Its crane fleet includes telescopics up to 500 tonnes and crawler cranes up to 750 tonnes from Demag, Liebherr, Kobelco and Sany. Its self-propelled aerial lift fleet is topped by a 120ft articulated boom lift. In total it has almost 1,000 employees and revenues in the region of $47.5 million.
