70t Tadano for Alex Grund

German crane rental and haulage company Alex Grund has taken delivery of a second 70 tonne Tadano ATF 70G-4 All Terrain crane.

Replacing a 65 tonne ATF 65G-4 in the company’s fleet, the four axle ATF 70G-4 has a six section 52.1 metre main boom and a nine to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway, providing a tip height of more than 71 metres and maximum radius of 44 metres. The crane can travel with axle loads of 10 tonnes with 3.4 tonnes of counterweight, its swingaway and hook block on board. Its first job involved placing concrete slabs and staircases.

Alex Grund's second 70 tonne Tadano ATF 70G-4

Hamburg branch manager Martin Peter said: “Our ATF 65G-4 just ran and ran and ran. It was a real taxi crane and it was on the road all day from one site to the next. This is what we liked about the ATF 65G-4 and the same can be said of the new ATF 70G-4. Now we have a second 70 in the group, we can be flexible with distributing the counterweights and so we are prepared for all eventualities.”

Established in 1774, Alex Grund transitioned into a crane and haulage company following the second world war. Now part of the Wilhelm Bruns group, it offers a small fleet of cranes - predominately from Tadano and Demag - throughout northern Germany from the Alex Grund depot in Hamburg and Bruns depot in Lüneburg.
