New Snorkel dealer for S.Africa

Snorkel has appointed powered access and telehandler distribution company Hi-Reach Manlift as its national distributor for South Africa.

Based in Springs and Benoni - both east of Johannesburg - Hi-Reach will offer the entire range of Snorkel boom, scissor, mast and material lifts as well as the company’s telehandlers throughout South Africa. As part of the new agreement it took delivery of its first Snorkel stock order earlier this month.

Hi-Reach chief executive George Landsberg, said: “Snorkel provides the ideal wide spectrum of access platforms and telehandlers for our market, and as they have already sold a number of machines into Southern Africa over the last 20 years or so, it is not an unfamiliar brand. The cultural fit with Snorkel also made the decision relatively easy for us.”

Michael Wright, Snorkel Middle East director, added: “South Africa is a growing market with significant potential for all types of aerial lifts and material handling equipment. George and the Hi-Reach team are incredibly well regarded and I know that they are the right partner to bring our innovative full line product offering to this territory, backed by excellent local service and support.”

Hi-Reach was founded by George Landsberg and Neville Bell in 2005 with the Genie Industries distributorship for Southern Africa. It was a sister company of the Johnson Access rental business and was jointly owned by Hoskin Consolidated Investments and the George Landsberg. Johnson Access was sold in 2009 but Hi-Reach continued as a distributor, providing new and used aerial lifts and telehandlers. In 2011, the operations of Hi-Reach was sold to the Goscor Group, then part of Imperial Holdings but later of the Bud Industrial group - see: Hi-Reach Manlift sold to Goscor. Hi-Reach Manlift dropped its access activities to focus on property. After retiring from the Bud Group in early 2019, George Landsberg received numerous requests from old customers to relaunch Hi-Reach as an access distribution company, which he did last year. It now represents a number of aerial lift manufacturers including Teupen, Hy-Brid Lifts, ATN, Sumner and Hydralada. The company also offers training, used equipment, repairs and rebuilds as well as spare parts and accessories.
