Mateco was until recently part of Belgium’s TVH but is now a totally separate business following a split in ownership between the two families that owned the business - see: TVH ownership changes.

Mateco Netherlands was formerly Gunco, which was established in Rotterdam in 1968 as a forklift rental company, adding aerial lifts in the 1970s. In 2007 it acquired Milcon and was itself acquired by TVH from owner Pon in 2011. The name change to Mateco came in 2018 as part of a global rebranding - see: Mateco branding applied to Gunco and Vamasa.

Mateco has its roots in Stuttgart, Germany, but now operates across 16 countries, with 160 locations with one of Europe’s largest fleets of aerial work platforms, telehandlers and forklift trucks.
