Man basket fall
Two men fell from a man basket attached to a crane in Recklinghausen, Germany on Friday evening. Both were seriously injured.
The men, aged 56 and 33, had fallen from a height of between 10 and 12 metres when the basket tipped then out. Fortunately, they landed on a roof which helped break their fall. However they still suffered very serious injuries and were rushed to hospital where they were said to be in a stable condition and that their injuries were thankfully not life threatening.
According to the local police, a third man, 29, was in the basket which had started to sway back and forth before finally tipping, but he was able to hold on until it reached the ground. He was also injured and was eventually taken to hospital.
A police statement suggested that while the men were on the work premises, this was not an accident at work, and that there was evidence of alcohol consumption.
