Konecranes Gen 6 for Italy

Italy’s Terminal San Giorgio (TSG) has ordered the first Konecranes Generation 6 mobile harbour crane in the country, following its introduction earlier this year – see: Generation 6 Konecranes.

Scheduled for delivery in June, the ESP.8 crane will be located at the company’s terminal in Genoa. It can handle 150 tonne capacity and has a 54 metre outreach. Power comes from a diesel generator that combines with ultracapacitors energy storage units, said to be in line with Stage V emission standards and Italy’s National Industry 4.0 Plan. It can also be run directly from the port’s power grid if required.

TSG has ordered the first Generation 6 mobile harbour crane in Italy

TSG managing director Maurizio Anselmo, said: “We already operate two Generation 5 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes in Genoa, and they’ve always performed above and beyond our expectations, so we’re proud to be the first customer in Italy to order a new Generation 6. With its improved performance and additional features, we can’t wait to see how it handles containers and project cargo at our terminal.”

Established in 2006, TSG’s terminal in Genoa is one of the busiest in Italy, handling a range of materials including containers, breakbulk, project cargo, yachts and steel.
