Terex RT brace for Scandiuzzi

Italy’s Scandiuzzi Steel Constructions has taken delivery of two new 80 tonne Terex TRT 80 Rough Terrain cranes.

The new machines were purchased through local dealer Tecno-Gru and were chosen for their performance on rough, uneven and unstable terrain as well as reach and capacity. The TRT 80 has a 42.1 metre five section main boom, which provides a maximum tip height of 45 metres with a capacity of more than 10 tonnes. Load charts are available for retracted outriggers for spreads of 5.3 or eight metres and with reduced counterweight, while pick & carry capacities of up to 15.3 tonnes are possible.

Scandiuzzi’s new Terex TRT 80

The key thing for Scandiuzzi was versatility in order to handle the majority of the company’s applications, which range from handling large steel components around the plant - including loading and unloading - to steel erection and assembly work in ports and on construction sites. The standard cab is fully climate controlled and tilts by up to 17 degrees.

Material handling around the steel yard is just one aspect of the work for the two cranes

The Scandiuzzi crane operator added: “The controls and display were very intuitive, the machine was fast in all areas and of the right size, with a very comfortable cab.”

The company was founded in 1973 by Renzo Scandiuzzi in the town of Giavera del Montello - north of Venice - moving to larger premises in the area in Volpago del Montello in 1978. A new plant was added in 1997 in Brindisi, at the other end of the country in the heel of Italy. A second operation opened in the town in 2008, followed by the concession in the port of Brindisi.

Today the management team includes at least four family members from the next generation and provides engineering solutions and equipment for industrial construction and the oil & gas industry, working on projects across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, South America and Thailand.
