Two more Groves for Grúas Alhambra

Spanish crane rental company Grúas Alhambra has added a new 250 tonne Grove GMK5250L-1 All Terrain crane to its fleet. At the same time, it has also taken a second hand 400 tonne Grove GMK6400.

The five axle GMK5250L-1 features a 70 metre seven section boom plus a 12.5 to 21.3 metre bi-fold hydraulic luffing swingaway extension, which can be extended with two 8.2 metre insert sections to create a total of 37.3 metres, all of which can be offset by up to 50 degrees. Alternatively, one of the 8.2 metre sections can be inserted between the boom nose and the extension. Either way the maximum tip height is 110 metres at which it can lift 2.4 tonnes. Maximum counterweight is 80 tonnes.

The new Grove GMK5250L-1 arrives with Grúas Alhambra

The 400 tonne GMK6400 has a 60 metre main boom and up to 79 metres of luffing jib with a maximum tip height of 136 metres, and the ability to handle loads out to 96 metres radius. When combined with the patented, self-rigging MegaWingLift, the crane’s capacity on the main boom is increased by 70 percent and by up to 400 percent on the luffing jib.

As the name suggests, Grúas Alhambra is based in Grenada, where it runs a 30 unit mobile crane fleet, topped by a 700 tonner. It has been in business for around 50 years and currently operates from seven locations - the HQ plus six branches. Other products offered include tower cranes, crawler crane up to the 1,360 tonne Liebherr LR 11350, a few spider cranes and heavy transport.

First job for the new Grove GMK5250L the construction of a high speed train bridge in Loja, Granada.
