Manitou set up its German business in 1996, in the town of Ober-Mörlen on the same A5 road as the new premises but further north. The move to the larger purpose-built facility is part of the manufacturer’s strategy to step up its operations in the German, Swiss and Austrian markets in order to increase its market share. Manitou Deutschland employs around 50 staff, to support and manage a network of 75 dealers across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, covering functions such as sales administration, marketing, training, service and spare parts.

The company began the transfer in April to the new site which covers about 5,000 square metres/1.25 acres. The buildings include two training rooms, a 500 square metre hall for training service engineers/technicians, and 900 square metres of office space. More than 100 people attended the formal opening including dealers, suppliers and employees.

Manitou Deutschland’s managing director Peter Wildemann said: "The easy accessibility via the A5 motorway and the proximity to Frankfurt Airport were a major plus point in the choice of Friedrichsdorf. This new location allows us to welcome our employees and customers in optimal conditions, with large spaces, and will enable us to continue to provide a high level of service to our network.”
