300t Liebherr for Spanish wind contractor

Spanish wind energy service contractor Sydis has taken delivery of a new 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 All Terrain crane.

The six axle crane features a seven section 78 metre main boom topped by a 12.5 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset and which can be extended to 35 metres. A 70 metre luffing jib is also available. The crane has also been ordered with the UK counterweight configuration allowing it to travel with more counterweight on board.

The crane already has a backlog of work lined up including the assembly of the turbines at six wind farm sites along with some other reconfiguration and update work. It is the third directly owned All Terrain in the company’s fleet.

Chief executive Jorge Córdoba said: "The new crane will allow us to optimise the crane work we do on smaller wind turbines up to one megawatt, which will increase our competitiveness and flexibility, positioning us as one of the benchmarks in the sector.”

"The Liebherr crane we already have has been very reliable, with innovative features and low-maintenance. Liebherr Ibérica also offers shorter reaction times than other manufacturers and offers a fast spare parts delivery which gives us great confidence when facing work in demanding conditions.”

Sydis is based in La Roda, Albacete, south west of Valencia. It was established in 2010 to offer a comprehensive service to the wind energy market including construction, installation, engineering and everything in between. It operates mostly in Spain, France, the Netherlands and Belgium and has begun building its own fleet of equipment including cranes and specialised transport.
