Second 120 tonner for Tatuapé

Brazilian crane and heavy transport company Guindastes Tatuapé has taken delivery of its second 120 tonne Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1 All Terrain crane. The first unit in a two crane order arrived in December.

The four axle crane is the 400th unit in Tatuapé’s fleet and as such received a special metallic paint job. It features a seven section 66 metre main boom topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset, a seven metre insert takes the maximum tip height to more than 94 metres with a maximum radius of 64 metres. The crane comes with remote control as well as Liebherr’s VarioBase outrigger set-up system and VarioBallast adjustable counterweight.

The new crane handover

The company has earmarked the new crane for maintenance work at wind farms, with its long boom making it ideally suited for such work.
Commercial director Denys Garzon Rodrigues said: "Compared to a five axle crane we used for similar operations, we gain efficiency deploying a crane with only four axles: more economical repositioning and better access to confined areas. The first unit has proven its performance in such applications. We are very satisfied with its performance and efficiency, just as we're really satisfied with all our Liebherr products."

Guindastes Tatuapé is based in São Paulo with a branch in the state of Espírito Santo and has been active in the Brazilian market for more than 60 years, providing crane rental and special haulage services. It employs around 400, while its 400 unit fleet includes mobile and crawler cranes, aerial work platforms, knuckle boom cranes and telehandlers. Customers are largely in the oil & gas, wind energy, mining and prefabricated concrete markets.
