Two five axle ATs for Crane Korea

South Korean crane rental company Crane Korea has ordered two new Grove five axle All Terrain cranes.

Based in Seotan, Pyeongtaek, south of Seoul, the company has ordered a 150 tonne GMK5150XL and a 250 tonne GMK5250XL-1, initially to be used on the construction of a new semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek.

The GMK5150XL features seven section 68.7 metre main boom with a capacity of 8.1 tonnes when fully extended, 9.4 tonnes at 66 metres and 12.7 tonnes at 60 metres, which can be topped by a 16.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension.

The GMK5250XL-1 has and eight section 78.5 metre main boom topped by an 18 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be extended to 34 metres with additional inserts. Features include Grove’s MAXbase variable outrigger setup, and a new engine which can offer up to 30 percent lower fuel costs.

Crane Korea already owns a GMK5250XL

Crane Korea runs an extensive fleet of five axle All Terrains from both Grove, Liebherr and Tadano and already includes three 250 tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1s. The new cranes will be delivered in the second half of the year.

We’ve always been extremely satisfied with the consistent performance and reliable operation of our Grove cranes, and so have our customers. We like Grove All Terrain cranes because we often work on jobsites with space constraints, so their compact design speeds up access and setup, even in tricky conditions. With their long boom lengths, we also have an advantage supporting projects that require additional reach.”

Crane Korea operates a fleet of mobile cranes from 25 two axle city types to a 1,200 tonne Liebherr. Its crawler crane fleet includes an 800 tonne Liebherr LR 1800-1.0, a 1,250 tonne Sany SCC 12500A and a 220 tonne Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic.
