Five axle duo for Wille & Dulies

German crane and transport company Wille & Dulies Krane has taken delivery of two new five axle Liebherr All Terrains, a 150 tonne LTM 1150-5.3 and 160 tonne LTM 1160-5.2, replacing two 130 tonners.

Wille & Dulies is based in Harisslee suburb of Flensburg close to the Danish border in Schleswig-Holstein. The LTM 1150-5.3 is equipped with a seven section 66 metre main boom plus, a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert can be added to take the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres.

The LTM 1160-5.2 boasts a six section 62 metre main boom, plus a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, while three additional seven metre inserts between boom nose and swingaway can provide a maximum tip height of 104 metres and a maximum radius of 78 metres.

The two partners and two generations collect the two new cranes

Managing partner Maik Dulies said: "Taking delivery of two new five axle cranes at the same time is something special for us. We were very happy with the two older 130 tonne cranes that they replace, so it made sense to procure Liebherr's successor model, which has a telescopic boom that is 10 per cent longer at 66 metres. It also offers significantly higher capacities."

Co-managing partner Stefan Heldt added: “We will use the new cranes for the assembly of precast concrete parts, the erection of mobile phone antennas and the construction of overhead lines and transformer stations. In addition, there are jobs in the wind power sector on which the new five axle cranes will assist the big ones. The LTM 1160-5.2 offers very good lifting capacity. In addition, its 2.75 metre wide chassis is a great advantage on the mostly narrow roads in our rural catchment area."

The two men travelled to the Liebherr plant in Ehingen, Dulies with his daughter Mailin, and Heldt with his son Fynn. "The next generation is waiting in the wings,” said Heldt.

The family owned Wille & Dulies Krane was formed in 1999 and combined Dulies Krane in Flensburg and Willie Krane in Kiel, the company also operates from depots in Rendsburg, Heide, Husum, Schleswig and Hamburg - seven locations in total - with a fleet of cranes up to 450 tonnes, including All Terrains, Truck cranes, self-erecting mobile tower cranes, loader cranes and spider cranes.
