220t telecrawler for Global

Scottish crane rental company Global Crane Services has taken delivery of a 220 tonne Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane, part of an order for 11 new cranes. Several of the new arrivals will be deployed at one of Scotland’s new ‘green’ Freeports.

The hand over

The LTR 1220 features a six section 60 metre main boom plus 12.2 to 22.2 metre bi-fold swingaway which offsets by up to 45 degrees and provides an 85 metre tip height, but this can be extended with three, seven metre lattice sections for a maximum tip height of almost 107 metres.

Global Crane Services operates from four locations - Aberdeen, Glasgow, Nigg and Invergordon. It runs a fleet of All Terrains ranging from a 35 tonne Kato CR-350R to a new 800 tonne Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1, along with several lattice cranes including truck mounts and a 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750-2 crawler. The company has also launched a new commissioning and installation division - Global Wind Projects - aiming to become one of the UK and Ireland's leading providers of on and off-shore turbine installation services.

Global Crane Services was established in 2013 as a division of Global Port Services - part of the Global Energy Group based in Inverness following the acquisition of Port Services Group - which traced its roots back to 1986. The Global group owns the Port of Nigg facility at the entrance to the Cromarty Firth.
