Another LTM1040-2.1 for Ellis

UK rental company Ellis Crane Hire has added a third 40 tonne Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1. to its fleet.

The two axle crane has a four section, 35 metre full power main boom which can handle 7.4 tonnes at full extension or take 1.1 tonnes out to its maximum radius of 31 metres. A 9.5 metre swingaway extension takes the maximum tip height to almost 44 metres.

Managing director Simon Ellis said: “We have looked at how and where we can rig our Liebherrs a bit differently since the inception of the VarioBase outrigger concept. I’m forever looking at the Liebherr Liccon work planner following a site visit to plan a job and doubting that I’ve got my measurements right. The VarioBase setup system seems to be able to produce a load chart duty that just doesn’t seem feasible. Inevitably after double checking everything, sure enough it is possible. For example, two tonnes at 17 metre radius with 30.1 metres of boom over an outrigger that has only been extended to three percent. I’m sure plenty of people reading this would conclude “that’s not possible – but it is!”

The company placed the order for its latest LTM1040 during Bauma last October.
