400t Grove for Wiemann

German rental company Wiemann Autokrane has added a new 400 tonne Grove GMK6400-1 All Terrain crane to its fleet.

It can be equipped with up to 79 metres of luffing jib for a 136 metre maximum tip height, while Grove’s Mega Wing Lift self-rigging Superlift system, increases lift capacities by up to 70 percent on the main boom and up to 400 percent on the luffing jib.

Markus Wiemann said: “We have run a Grove GMK6400 -the predecessor to the MK6400-1 - since 2014. When we talked to the Grove dealer KranAgentur Werner about the updated GMK6400-1, we immediately liked what we heard. We travelled to Wilhelmshaven to see the prototype and provided some feedback. Manitowoc was genuinely interested in our comments and suggested changes, such as including foldable handrails for reduced component height and optimised transport, which were included in the final design. Our regular GMK6400 driver, Heinz Hedemann, joined the visit to Wilhelmshaven and was pleased to see the upgrades from the GMK6400, such as quieter and more powerful hydraulics, optimised set-up, and the inclusion of the user-friendly Crane Control System.”

Established in 1960 Wiemann is based in Dortmund and runs a fleet of 80 mobile cranes, three crawler cranes and a fleet of aerial work platforms from seven locations in Germany.
