A new name in rental

Sammons Industrial, parent company of Briggs Equipment, has established an all new rental company in the USA - SitePro Rentals.

Based near Sammons HQ in Dallas, SitePro is actually a general rental equipment spin off from Briggs Equipment, and therefore kicks off with an extensive fleet that includes aerial work platforms, telehandlers and pick & carry cranes and nine locations, six of them in Texas, two in Georgia and one in Louisiana. The comapny plans to add further locations in Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta during 2022.

The company will be managed by Tim Rule who joined Sammons last year after a 17 year career with United rentals, starting out with the company in 2002 as a district manager, and was appointed vice president of business development in 2012. He began his career as a financial analyst with Case/New Holland in 1995, becoming a sales and marketing business manager for Case in 1999, leaving for United in 2002.

Tim Rule

Sammons Industrial’s chief executive Darron Ash said: “Separating equipment rental from our material handling solutions business allows us to provide the focus that equipment rental requires. We see equipment rental as an attractive and growing market and are committed to investing in the long term success of SitePro. In addition, we’re really excited to have an innovative leader like Tim Rule leading the business.”

Rule added: “SitePro’s operating model and value proposition are built around addressing customer pain points and improving uptime. Since we’re building the company from the ground up, with all new systems and technology, we’re not encumbered by outdated legacy systems and processes like other industry players. As a result, we’re able to combine our understanding of customer needs with cutting edge technologies to create an industry leading customer experience.”

Vertikal Comment

Sammons is pitching the new venture as a ‘disruptor’ although it is hard to see how this is the case as to all intents and purposes it appears to be a classic general equipment rental company. It is interesting that it felt it needed to separate it from Briggs, and possibly acknowledges the fact that industrial forklift sales and rental is quite different from construction equipment rental. Although some companies do manage to sit astride both- it is not an easy fit especially on a larger scale.

It will be interesting to see how it develops.
