A partial view of the skyline from the CTE stand with two new truck mounts and the new 18 metre new generation spiderlifft alongside Terex cranes and Genie

We will provide more detailed coverage of the show over the next week or so, but it should be said that it is substantially larger than ever before, with a very impressive skyline and lots of new products. We will be attending again tomorrow – this show really does need two or three days.

One product that caught our eye on day one was a new 54 metre telescopic spider lift from Platform Basket - the Spider 54T.

with eight section boom and four section jib

There were no specification sheets on the stand today, but we do know that it weighs 22 tonnes, has a massive eight section synchronised main boom, topped by a four section articulating jib, offering a platform capacity of 400kg. It can be quickly converted to a spider crane with a 990kg lift capacity, offers 29 metres outreach over the side. Power is currently diesel, with AC motor for indoor use, while a lithium battery hybrid will be added later.

One of the first stands in the door is Valla with an impressive display of its new models, including prototypes of the new 16 and 18 metre V160R and V180R models. Over half of the machines on the stand had been purchased by UK sales and rental company Hird. Please register to see all images
