Saudi Arabian crane rental and heavy haulage company Arabian Consolidated Trading (ACT) has ordered 18 new cranes from Liebherr.
The order includes three 100 tonne LRT 1100 2.1 Rough Terrains, and 15 All Terrains - seven 120 tonne LTM 1120-4.1 and eight 150 tonne LTM 1150-5.3 all of which include Variobase variable automatic outrigger set up.
The LRT 1100-2.1s are equipped with 50 metre five section main booms, topped by 10.5 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extensions with up to 40 degrees of offset for a maximum tip height of just over 72 metres.
The four axle LTM 1120-4.1 features a seven section 66 metre main topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. A seven metre insert takes the maximum tip height to more than 94 metres.
The five axle LTM 1150-5.3 has a similar set up to the 120, with a 66 metre, seven section main boom along with the 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension and a maximum tip height to almost 95 metres.
ACT chief executive Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi said: “The LRT Rough Terrain cranes convinced us with their simplicity. They are self-explanatory and at the same time very safe to use. An important factor for us on the LTM 1150 is the longer 66 metre telescopic boom compared to the LTM 1160-5.2. The 150-tonne crane is the perfect addition to our fleet.”
Based in Jubail, the company bought its first crane from Liebherr in 1987 and now operates over 190 of them, in a 250 crane fleet. It employs around 1,000 staff at locations Riyadh, Dammam and Yanbu in addition to Jubail, and also has an operation in Dubai. The company focuses on crane rental and operations for refinery maintenance and decommissioning.
