200 JCB scissors for GT

UK rental company GT Access has ordered 200 JCB lectric wheel motor drive slab electric scissor lifts. The units ordered include 19ft S1932E, 26ft S2632E and the wider S2646E, 32ft S3246E, 40ft S4046E and 45ft S4550E. They will be supplied through local dealer Gunn JCB.

JCB announced the conversion of its slab electric scissor lift range from hydraulic wheel motor drive to electric motors last May, prior to launching them at Vertikal Days. The new units began coming on stream during the summer, starting with the 19ft models, and gradually moving up through the range during the year to the 45ft unit. Some of the models delivered to GT Access will be the first units to enter service. As with their predecessors, the new models are built at one of JCB’s production plants in India.

Steve Moody of GT Access said: “JCB’s development of these new direct electric drive models gives our customers multiple benefits over hydraulic motor machines. Customers prefer the electric drive models for their longer battery life – over 50 percent better – and better performance on slopes. We also chose them based on the reliability and resale values of the original JCB machines we purchased five years ago. The older machines have also given us excellent return as well as being very reliable and looking in good condition for their age.”

GT Access can trace its roots in the access business back more than 40 years, based in the English Midlands it operates from 12 locations with 152 staff running a fleet of more than 3,000 platforms across the midlands, south east England and south Wales. It is also a member of the Access Alliance of independently owned regional access rental companies and an IPAF accredited training provider.
