Another record year for Liebherr

Liebherr has published its annual report and results for 2023, which shows its second record year in a row terms of revenue growth.

Total revenues for the 12 months were €14.04 billion, an increase of 11.5 percent over 2022. In total 11 of the 13 divisions contributed to the growth with tower cranes being the only one to post a significant decline while Deep foundation equipment was largely flat.
Pre-tax profit for the year was €668 million almost triple (x2.7) the level of last year, when profits came in at €246 million.

Looking at the three key crane divisions, the results were as follows:

Mobile and crawler cranes
Revenues - €3.45 billion + 14.7 %
Capital investment - €99 million +6.5%
Employees - 6,719 +9.3%
Shipments of mobile and crawler cranes from Ehingen exceeded 2,000 units for the first time in 2023

Mobile crane sales by region:
European Union - 42.2% = €1.45 billion
Non-EU - Europe - 8.1% = €279.5 million
North America - 27.8% = €959.1 million
South & Central America - 2.7% = €93.1 million
Africa and the Middle East - 6.2% = €187 million
Asia & Oceania - 13% = €449 million

Mobile crane sales improved significantly in Germany, France and the USA, along with
Norway, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, Indonesia, South Korea and
Brazil.

Tower cranes
Revenues - €510 million -9%
Capital investment - €126 million +32.6%
Employees - 2,630 +0.7%

Tower crane sales by region:
European Union - 61.9% = €315.7 million
Non-EU - Europe - 11.8% = €60.18 million
North America - 10.4% = €53.0 million
South & Central America - 1.2% = €6.12 million
Africa and the Middle East - 9.0% = €45.9 million
Asia & Oceania - 5.7% = €29.1 million

Marine cranes
Revenues - €977 million +20.3%
Capital investment -€31 million +55%
Employees - 3,919 +3.4%

Marine crane sales by region:
European Union - 28.5% = €278.4 million
Non-EU - Europe - 17.6% = €172 million
North America - 11.4% = €111.4 million
South & Central America - 9.6% = €93.8 million
Africa and the Middle East - 17.2% = €168.0 million
Asia & Oceania - 15.7% = €153.4 million

Total crane sales
Total mobile, tower and marine crane sales were almost €5 billion - €4.94 billion to be precise - more than a third of the group's total, with 13,268 employees.
