French telehandler and aerial lift manufacturer Manitou is to acquire one of its South African dealers - Dezzo Equipment, in an asset purchase deal.
The deal is expected to be finalised and completed during the third quarter, following approval by the South African merger control authorities.
Dezzo Equipment has been a Manitou distributor since 2008 and covers Swaziland, the Northern Cape and the province of Mpumalanga – the area east of Johannesburg and Pretoria – to the border with Mozambique. It operates from three locations, Chloorkop on the north east edge of Johannesburg, Kathu – in the iron ore region between Johannesburg and Cape town and Middelburg in central Mpumalanga. The company sells all of Manitou’s products including its Indian built loader backhoes, and industrial forklift ranges. It also offers Verlinde cranes & Hoists. The company employs 28 and had revenues last year in the region of €8 million.
Darren Hall managing director of Manitou Southern Africa said: "Dezzo Equipment has a huge expertise, with many technicians and a perfect knowledge of our products and services. We are proud to integrate the staff into the Manitou group. This operation will enable us to maintain and strengthen our products and services offer to our customers in these two areas".
