Third electric crawler for Kuiphuis

Dutch crane rental company Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur has ordered a third unit of Spierings new SK2400-R eLift electric powered crawler mounted self-erecting mobile tower cranes.

The order was placed by Kuiphuis owner and director Bob Bruijsten at the handover of the first unit on Friday. Kuiphuis has now decided that the performance of the new electric model is such that it can press ahead and replace its entire "older" diesel fleet.

The new crane, the most powerful mobile self-erecting tower crane on a tracked undercarriage, has a maximum capacity of 18 tonnes at a 14.6 metre radius, with a choice of two jib lengths - 42 or 50 metres, with 5.5 or 2.5 tonnes jib tip capacity respectively.

Bob Bruijsten said: "The current modern, but older, machines have the most modern Stage V diesel engines, however the new class electric eLift crane is just much more efficient for us as a crane rental company. We have had Spierings crawler cranes in our fleet since 2016, however we have recently seen an increase in demand from our customers for these cranes, especially the pone with the high capacities."

Spierings chief executive Koos Spierings added: "Almost exactly 30 years after the we delivered the first SK345-AT3 to family owned Kuiphuis, we are proud to deliver the very first crawler mounted SK2400-R e-Lift to Kuiphuis."
