New Potain on Turkey's Golden Horn Bay

Turkish construction company Görgülü İnşaat has taken delivery of an eight tonne MCT 185 Potain topless tower crane from dealer Ahs Vinç.

The crane features a 65 metre jib with a tip capacity of 1.5 tonnes. There is a choice of two counter jibs - a 13.5 metre one for use with a 30 to 45 metre jib lengths and a 16 metre one for the 50 to 65 metre configurations. The crane can be installed on Potain’s existing 1.6 metre L46 or two metre L68 towers, both of which use pinned joints.

It can also be used with the new 7.5 metre high S46JR reinforced tower base for, with freestanding heights up to 59.2 metres. Potain says that on a well prepared site, the crane can be erected in a day and half while the entire upper works can be shipped in five container loads.

A team of three engineers from Zhangjiagang, China travelled to turkey to supervise the commissioning of the new crane and provide training.

The crane - which will remain on site for one year - has been purchased for use in the Tersane Istanbul developments, located on a former shipyard in Golden Horn Bay. The developments include 1,000 residential units, four hotels, office spaces, retail units, parking facilities, and a marina.

Learning in real-time, on the job helped the crew to understand much faster and will give them the confidence to get the most out of their new purchase.”
