Fassi acquires Bavaria Fahrzeugbau

Italian loader crane manufacturer Fassi Gru has acquired German truck body manufacturer Bavaria Fahrzeugbau.

Bavaria Fahrzeugbau was created with the merger of Albert Fahrzeugbau, Zanner Fahrzeugbau, and Nüsslein Michael Fahrzeugaufbauten. The combined group employs around 130 people and produces a range of custom bodies for commercial and heavy vehicles serving various sectors with everything from refrigerated vehicles to tipper trucks and loader cranes.

The group now operates from two locations - Albert Fahrzeugbau in Wendelstein, north of Ingolstadt and Zanner Fahrzeugbau in Himmelkron, North of Bayreuth, between them they cover central and northern Bavaria. No details of the transaction have been released.

Chief executive Giovanni Fassi, sales director Emilion Bertazzi and Fassi Deutschland chief executive Thomas Moucka met with employees and chief executive Berhanrd Fischinger to introduce the business to the Fassi group.

Fassi was established in 1965 by Franco Fassi - Giovanni’s father - and now manufactures around 12,000 cranes a year. It has also been a major shareholder in spider crane company Jekko since 2016. At the beginning of this year, London, UK, based Investindustrial Group acquired a 70% stake in the business.
