UK rental company Plantforce has appointed Chris Matthew as commercial director, reporting to chief executive Sam Mercer.
In his new role he will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and commercial growth of the company, with a focus on innovation, safety and sustainability across all aspects of its operations. He joins the company from P. Flannery Plant Hire where he has been head of business strategy at rental company for the past six years.
He began his rental career in 2005, as an area operations manager with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, leaving after five and a half years to join Hewden where he was appointed national account manager, then head of construction sales. He left the business in 2014 to join one of the crews competing in the Clipper Round The World race. He returned later in the year to join the construction services team of the major contractor Balfour Beatty, leaving in 2018 for Flannery.
