Italian lithium ion battery developer and supplier Flash Battery has set up a new North American subsidiary in Texas.
The new operation is based in Houston and will be managed by Andrea Pongolini as vice president of sales. The decision to set up a local company was driven by demand – the fast growing young business already has sales of around $16 million in the country – more than a third of its entire revenues - and expects that to grow more rapidly now that it is adding a local warehouse and staff.
Flash Battery co-founder and chief executive Marco Righi said: “The choice of Houston as headquarters, is strategic with respect to our plans for development, and above all for after sales service to support the American, Mexican and Canadian markets, which represent a fast-growing market for us.”
“All research and production, will remain in our Italian headquarters in Sant'Ilario d'Enza, where more than 120 people are engaged in development. The Houston office will focus on strengthening relations with overseas customers, gathering useful information for the innovations demanded by those markets and providing remote assistance and any on-site visits free of delays due to differences in time zones.”
“Looking ahead we see a number of opportunities for growth in the US in the construction and logistics sectors and are also looking with great interest at the airport market, and in particular all the vehicles that move goods and people at airports.”

The origins of Flash Battery date back to 2012 when the two friends Marco Righi, together with chief technical officer Alan Pastorelli set up a company, they named Kaitek, to sell the lithium batteries and management systems they had been working on and perfected over the previous three years. In August 2020 the company rebranded as Flash Battery and moved into its current 7,000 square metres premises on a 20,000 square metre plot in Sant’Ilario d’Enza. Roughly 3,200 square metres of the facility is dedicated to production areas, 2,200 square metres of warehousing, with the balance being offices for Research, Development & innovation along with sales, marketing and administration.
In our market sector the company mostly provides batteries for electric telehandlers, and spider lifts and counts Easy Lift among its customers.
