JLG updates G518A telehandler

JLG will introduce a new 19ft (5.7m)/5,000lb(2,500kg) compact North American telehandler, the 519. Essentially it is an updated version of its 18ft/5.5 metre G518A that it launched in 2007.

The new unit will offer a maximum lift of 5.7 metres, forward reach of 3.3 metres and a 2,495kg lift capacity and can handle just under two tonnes at its maximum lift height. The specifications are largely the same as its predecessor, the main differences being a little more lift height and a 270kg reduction in overall weight.

The telehandler is powered by a Deutz 2.2L diesel and has a number of new features including a new control system with Load Stability Indication (LSI), Seatbelt Engagement warning and Operator Presence (SEAOP) sensing, and diagnostics through ClearSky Smart Fleet.

The cab has also been redesigned and features a new multifunction electric over hydraulic joystick with auxiliary hydraulic function and attachment tilt capabilities. Finally, the number of hoses and hydraulic fittings have been reduced by 44 percent helping reduce wait and improve reliability.

Features that have remained the same include its turning radius, skid steer adapter and the ability to use different attachments - including a fork mounted work platform, grabble bucket, lifting hook etc - depending on the job.

Senior product manager John Boehme said: “The 519 will be a valuable asset for rental companies, commercial and residential construction firms and independent contractors, like masons and homebuilders, working in pick & place applications that require precision handling of job site materials. With its enhanced capabilities and technology, this new model is positioned to compete effectively in the 5,500lb/2,500kg telehandler market.”
